The gas turbine plant went into continuous operation for the first time in 1996 and has been modernized several times over the years.
The gas turbine plant of the CHP "Helmshäger Berg" consisted of three gas turbines, each with a waste heat boiler and separate exhaust gas ducts. Two of the three gas turbines have already been dismantled in the course of the construction of the Boddenluft CHP. The remaining gas turbine is to be modernized in accordance with the KWKG. According to §2 No. 18 KWKG, modernized CHP plants are those CHP plants in which essential plant components that determine efficiency have been renewed and the modernization results in an increase in efficiency. This includes, for example, the gas turbine (power and working turbine) itself as well as system components such as heat exchangers, waste heat boilers, pipe insulation or frequency converters, but not the building envelope or the sound insulation hood of the gas turbine.
The following components are part of the modernization:
Turbine
Compressor
Combustion chamber
Transmission
Luftfiltersystem
Schalldämmhaube
generator
Exhaust gas sound attenuation
Modification of the exhaust duct
Druckluftversorgungsanlage
Abhitzekessel
Wärmeauskopplung
