The contract covers the supply and installation of a Raman micro-spectrometer equipped with two different laser wavelengths.

KIK-IRPA already has more than 20 years of experience in micro-Raman spectroscopy for the study of cultural heritage. To replace the current equipment, KIK-IRPA wishes to acquire a new dispersive micro-Raman spectrometer for the analysis, among other things, of pigments in paintings, polychrome sculptures and manuscripts, as well as for the analysis of salts in real estate heritage. The individual pigment grains present in the paint (up to 1 μm) must be able to be visualized to allow accurate and sensitive analyses, without influence or with minimal influence of the surrounding pigments. For the identification of synthetic organic pigments, which produce many Raman bands, high spectral resolution is required. Two diode lasers with wavelengths of 785 nm and 532 nm were chosen as laser excitation wavelengths.
