Planning services for the basic repair of the Oste barrier system
On the federal waterway Oste is located at Wastr. -km 69.575 the Ostesperrwerk. The purpose of the barrier system is to protect the east and surrounding areas from storm surges.
The barrier was put into operation in 1968 and consists of 5 openings, each 22 m wide. The middle opening serves as a shipping opening and is closed with hydraulically driven mortising gates. All other side openings have mechanically driven segmental locks. A prestressed concrete bridge runs over the entire plant. This is designed as a double folding bridge in the area of the middle field.
In the course of the building inspection, safety-related damage to the anchorages of the pivot bearings of the segment locks was found. The pivot bearings are now being emergency protected by the ESC.
The corrosion protection of segment contactors also requires a revision.
The closures (needles) with a float-in needle tendon provided on the barrier for inspection purposes may no longer be used for reasons of occupational safety. It is therefore currently not possible to drain the barrier.
In principle, the barrier system has been included in the list of “system-critical buildings”. In line with DIN 19700-13, the damage potential of the barrier can be classified as high. In the event of failure, there are considerable consequences in the event of a storm surge over a large area.
At present, the entire structure has a status rating of 3.1 (condition report from 29.05.2019). The monitoring report from 26.09.2017 already came to the conclusion that a basic repair of the building is urgently required.
The content of this contract is the planning services for repairing the above-mentioned damage to the building.
