When replacing the Kriegenbrunn and Erlangen locks, environmentally relevant requirements must be observed, which are laid down in the accompanying landscape conservation plan (LBP). In order to advise, support and comply with various requirements, an ecological construction supervision must be commissioned.

The ecological construction supervision at the Erlangen and Kriegenbrunn locks includes the following points:

The contractor has the task of advising the WNA as the client on topics related to ecology. For this purpose, the Contractor shall, at the request of the WNA, accompany them in coordination with authorities concerning the handling of environmentally relevant issues.

The tasks before the start of construction include the review of the implementation planning, the determination of local changes that are relevant under nature conservation law and have not yet been recorded, the documentation of the current condition as well as the collection and relocation of lizards from the construction site.

During the construction site briefing of the AN-Bau, participation is provided with regard to the construction site equipment, construction site process and logistics, construction times, use of machines as well as protection and avoidance measures.

During construction, the task includes the control of the defined measures, the review of compensatory and replacement measures, participation in construction meetings, the annual inspection and cleaning of nesting boxes, the preparation of documentation and advice on nature conservation issues.

At the end, a final report including enforcement control of all measures of the LBP must be prepared.
