Sjøfartsdirektoratet [The Norwegian Maritime Directorate] wants a gap analysis of the builder requirements for recreational craft in regulations from 15 January 2016 no. 35 for the production and sale of recreational craft and water scooters, etc. and the requirements for commercial craft in the current regulations and the Nordic Boat Standard for commercial craft (1990). There is a great need to clarify the differences in the regulations, especially in regard to the smallest vessels. Furthermore, Sjøfartsdirektoratet [the Norwegian Maritime Directorate] wants a basis for assessing what changes can be made to the regulations that apply to the smallest commercial vessels to improve these regulations and possibly complement them with the recreational craft requirements, where this is appropriate, without reducing the level of safety.
