The Photogrammetry section within the Ordnance Survey Land Registry (OSLR) Directorate of Land and Property Services is responsible for the collection, maintenance and production of accurate up to date Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI) large-scale mapping. This contract is to provide assistance in delivering these functions. To assist in delivering these functions, Photogrammetry has been deploying an UltraCam XP WA Digital Camera (purchased in 2011) and has been leasing an aircraft with suitable modifications as a platform. Flying at altitudes up to 10 000 ft, at a minimum speed of 120 knots along predetermined flight lines, aerial imagery has been captured with a side overlap of 30 percent and forward overlap of 60 percent throughout Northern Ireland. The captured imagery is then downloaded, processed and geo-referenced through a process known as Aerial Triangulation. Once these processes are complete ortho photographs are produced and large scale map revision can take place. This process is crucial to delivering the broad objectives detailed above.
