Description:
Plug-in Electric North Sea Canal Ferry Boats

GVB plans to acquire new North Sea Canal ferry boats, to replace the current 5 ferry boats. Design, construction and supply of a dual-end chined steel vessel for slow- and rapid traffic. Propulsion by rudder propellers with electric motors. Energy supply by a battery pack on the boat that will be charged on 1 side of the canal. For redundancy 2 generators will be installed. The scope also covers maintenance and supply of parts as detailed in the tender documents.

Attention:

An informative meeting will be organised on 21 August. GVB will provide information about the tender and for extra insight an IJ ferry will be presented. Latest 14 August tenderers must indicate via the messages module in Negometrix how many people (maximum 2) wish to be present at that meeting. Considering the possible reduced presence of employees at the time of the planned publication of the contract notice, a prior notice gave an opportunity to take note of the tender and the meeting date.

GVB plans to acquire new North Sea Canal ferry boats, to replace the current 5 North Sea Canal ferry boats. The purchasing plan entails the design, construction and supply based on the requirements specification ‘Plug-in electric North Sea Canal ferry boat’. The North Sea Canal ferry boat is a chined steel vessel equipped for slow transit traffic (including pedestrians, cyclists, mopeds, agricultural vehicles) and rapid transit traffic (car and freight traffic).

Propulsion is achieved by means of rudder propellers. Each rudder propeller is driven by an electric motor. The main energy supply is a battery pack on the boat that will be charged on landing on one side of the North Sea Canal. At the same time, to ensure redundancy, two generators will be installed that can supply the total power requirement if electric charging is not possible. The ferry boat is to be equipped with a ramp fore and aft. The ferry boat will service the 24-hour connections at Zaandam, Buitenhuizen and Velsen.

In addition, the scope of the contract covers maintenance and supply of strategic spare parts as detailed in the tender documents.

Attention:

An informative meeting will be organised, on Wednesday 21 August, in Amsterdam. GVB will provide information about the tender and, to provide additional insight, an IJ ferry will be presented. At the latest 14 August the tenderers must indicate via the messages module in Negometrix how many of their people (maximum of 2) wish to be present at that meeting. Considering the possible reduced presence of employees at the time of the planned publication of the contract notice, a prior information notice provided an opportunity to take note of the tender and the informative meeting date.
