The science city of Darmstadt intends to replace the main building that was built in the 1970s and its extension with a replacement new building, as the two buildings can no longer meet the needs of the current educational concepts. The space required for this new building has a program area of approximately 3,000 m².

The existing specialist class wing was built in the 2000s and will continue to exist in order to support the school in the field of natural sciences. As before, the existing building will be connected to the future new building via the two-storey, glazed connecting part.

On an area of more than 6,000 square meters on three floors and basement, classrooms and specialist rooms, service rooms, corridors and sanitary areas are to be created for around 650 pupils as well as their teachers and pedagogical leaders.

Roof waterproofing and plumbing work is carried out, including:

- rd. 2.000 qm Flachdachabdichtung,

- approx. 2,000 sqm flat roof thermal insulation,

- over 1,200 square meters of sealing of the floor slabs,

- approx. 600 sqm sealing of arcades and balconies,

- the installation of roof openings and hatches / SHEVs,

- approx. 200 running metres of attic cladding,

- the installation of approx. 180 running metres of rain gutters and approx. 200 running metres of rain pipes,

- approx. 1,000 sqm of green roofs, as well as

- the production of approx. 500 sqm built-up area photovoltaic system,
