The assignment is for a school that is to be constructed at Bakkeøyane to the north east of the centre of Sykkylven. It is a 3 parallel school with a sports hall, arts centre, and resource department. The school is to be constructed with 2 floors.

The project also includes the school's outside area, roads, open spaces, and car park. A footbridge is to be constructed over the river to the bus stop and car park.

Prats of the site will be untouched nature areas.

The sports hall with changing rooms, technical room, and stores is to be located towards the north back in the terrain. The arts centre will be towards the south on the ground floor, and the resource department and administration on the 1st floor. The heart room with the main entrance, canteen and seating amphitheatre will connect this to the wraparound care department and teaching areas. The teaching areas will be split into 2 classroom wings towards the river.

The school's play area will be to the south and east of the school. Walls, open spaces, access and parking will be on the west side. The area is to be connected by a footbridge to a bus stop on the opposite side of the river.

The main principle in the preliminary project is that the school is constructed in wood and glulam, with the exception of the sports hall, where a decision has been made to use conventional construction methods.

The project will be carried out as a turnkey enterprise.
