The Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset has awarded contracts for waste management services. This procurement was undertaken to establish a contract for waste management services for Avon and Somerset Police, Taunton Deane Borough Council and West Somerset Council. Contracts have been awarded for lots as outlined below:

Lot 1: Co-mingled Recyclables and Residual Waste: to include, but not limited to, general waste, non-confidential paper (including pre-shredded protectively marked paper), tins, cans, plastic, glass, cardboard, newspaper/magazines.

Lot 2: Hazardous Waste (including WEEE): waste defined by the European Waste Catalogue including, but not limited to, fluorescent tubes, lamp disposal, televisions, fridges/freezers, lead-acid batteries, torch batteries, paint and associated products, animal faeces, urine and manure, WEEE appliances, batteries, liquid waste, weed killer, plant food, lighter fluid, explosives, anthrax contaminated items, mercury, vehicle waste including fuel, mixed fuel, oil, coolants, oil filters, anti-freeze, brake fluid, tyres, parts washing fluids, contaminated rags and granules and other contaminated items which may include furniture/fittings contaminated with bodily fluids.

Lot 3: Metal Waste: to include, but not limited to, brass, aluminium, steel, bicycles, engines, furniture, filing cabinets and miscellaneous metal waste.

Lot 5: Protectively Marked Waste: off-site shredding services to include, but not limited to, paper, multimedia and clothing.

Lot 6: Drainage System Clearance (Avon and Somerset Police only).

The contracts are for 5 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years.

No contract has been awarded for Lot 4 (Skip Hire).
