New construction of the University Hospital Augsburg
(kurz 2023 UKA NB)
The University Hospital Augsburg (UKA) is one of the youngest university hospitals in Germany. It is a maximum care provider and accommodates almost all medical disciplines under one roof. Around 250,000 patients (m/f/d) are treated as inpatients and outpatients at the UKA every year. For diagnosis and therapy in all medical disciplines, 1,699 beds are available in a total of 23 clinics, four institutes and medical centers. More than 1,000 doctors (m/f/d) and around 2,500 nurses take care of the health of patients. On 14 March 2023, the Bavarian Council of Ministers decided that a project application for a new building should be prepared instead of the general renovation of the UKA that has been pursued so far. For this purpose, the scope of services for the present contract includes the development of the operational organizational basics, which are to be used for the further planning of the new building. It also includes a site analysis to determine the location and then an urban development draft including a framework plan for the entire area. This is intended to describe the framework for the structural development of the entire property in the course of the new construction of the UKA. Fundamental aspects such as supply technology as well as logistics and transport must already be taken into account and presented in a technical real estate concept. Coordination processes with the client, other parties involved in the planning and various committees are just as much a part of the task as the consideration of the findings from coordination rounds with the public interest bodies and from the associated expert opinions. The results of the work from the operational organisation planning (BO planning for short) on the one hand and those from the urban planning and technical framework planning on the other hand form the basis of the project application for the new building of the UKA at the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts. At the same time, these results will be used for the development of urban land use planning and the implementation of an interdisciplinary implementation competition, through which the contract for the object planning of buildings and interiors (as well as the other planning contracts) for the new building will be awarded
should be. The competition is to be supported by the BO planning in an advisory capacity in order to pay special attention to the operational-functional aspects of the contributions developed in this context. Once the interdisciplinary design competition has been completed and the other planning offices have been commissioned, the actual planning of the new building will begin. The BO planning is also intended to accompany the project in this phase in an advisory capacity.
