SURFnet wishes to acquire Transatlantic Lambdas (wavelengths) to connect the NetherLight Open Lightpath Exchange to various locations in North-America, both for its own use and on behalf of its partners in the Research and Education networking arena. Therefore, SURFnet invites potential suppliers of Transatlantic Lambdas to participate in this Tender Procedure.
At this time, SURFnet has 6 operational 10 Gigabit lambdas between NetherLight and North-America (MAN LAN and StarLight). This Call for Proposals is targeted to acquire:
— 1 Transatlantic Lambda circuit between Amsterdam and New York City to be acquired by SURFnet, for SURFnet's own use, with an option (mandatory) for a second and third lambda, and with (optionally) an option for upgrade to 40G and an option to terminate the circuit in Chicago instead of New York;
— 1 Transatlantic Lambda circuit between Amsterdam and New York City to be acquired by SURFnet, for use by NORDUnet , with an option (mandatory) for a second and third, and with (optionally) an option for upgrade to 40G and an option to terminate the circuit in Chicago instead of New York;
— 1 Transatlantic Lambda circuit between Amsterdam and Ashburn to be acquired by SURFnet, for use by NORDUnet, with an option (mandatory) for a second and third, and with (optionally) an option for upgrade to 40G.
Through this Tender Procedure, SURFnet wishes to conclude Contracts for all targeted Transatlantic Lambdas.
