The aim of the double-track expansion project on the Ligerz—Twann line is to eliminate the last bottleneck on the Jurassic foot line between Lausanne and Biel, which is located between km 93.6 and 95.6 of line 210.
Due to the limited space between the lake and slope, where the national road N5 and the cantonal road also run, a new dual-track tunnel is to be built.
The services mainly include the following:
— day-building tunnel on the west side,
— viaduct of the N5 feeder,
— New tunnel
— emergency exits,
— supply air tunnels,
— Tagbautunnels on the east side,
— Brunnmühli spring underpass,
— sea burdening and foundation slab,
— railway engineering work,
—— gravel tracks and fixed roads,
—— overhead lines,
—— signage, equipment,
— dismantling and redesign of the main line
— material handling,
- Landscaping.
