The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for St Peter’s Catholic School (the Client).
St Peter’s Catholic School is an oversubscribed school situated in a residential area of Guildford, Surrey. It is a co-educational Catholic school established by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arundel and Brighton, and administered by Surrey County Council. There are currently 1 127 students aged 11-18.
Since 2010 the school has opened a GBP 2 000 000 purpose-built Sixth Form Centre and a GBP 1 000 000 Theatre and Liturgical Centre. To accommodate an increased Year 7 intake of 210 students from 9.2017 the completion of a new block is due this summer, comprising a new chapel, 3 art classrooms and 8 English classrooms.
The tender project is seeking to appoint a Supplier whose initiative and innovation will be welcomed for the provision of service within the existing facilities for the growing number of students (1 160 from 9.2018 and rising by 30 students each year until 9.2021) and 160 teaching and support staff, with a focus on exciting new food concepts to satisfy a wide range of student tastes and dietary requirements. The client will wish the successful supplier to review the current range of services offered, including Sixth Form provision, and make recommendations accordingly.
The contract being tendered is for three years in duration from 1.9.2018 to 31.8.2021 and will operate as a guaranteed performance contract, with the successful Supplier offering the client a guaranteed return/cost per annum for the provision of catering services. Sovereignty of the cash tariff is to remain with the Client for the duration of this contract. The current cost of a 2-course main meal is GBP 2.25 and a cashless system is in operation (a Cunninghams biometric system).
The academic year is based on a calendar of 195 days. Up to 5 days are to be used for staff professional development which means that school will be open to receive students up to 190 days.
The contract offered covers the scope for the provision of all school catering services, which currently includes breakfast, morning break, lunch, all hospitality and Free School Meal requirements. Free School Meals and hospitality will be charged based on consumption and ideally at net food cost.
Whilst the Client prioritises value for money as a key objective of the competitive tender process, the governing body is not obliged to accept the lowest price.
The client expects the successful supplier to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients being prepared on-site. The Client expects the successful supplier to evidence, through their bid, how they shall support and complement its Catholic ethos, demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and support the principles of Every Child Matters.
