See II.2.4
Through a design competition, the Heilig Hart Regional Hospital Leuven is looking for a design team for the design and realization of a new building (adjacent to the existing main building) on the hospital site located between Naamsestraat and H. Consciencestraat in Leuven.
The Regional Hospital H. Hart Leuven is a medium-sized hospital (287 beds) with a broad activity in the city center. The hospital covers almost all medical specialties. With its 125 doctors and 750 employees, it guarantees high-quality care, a patient-friendly approach and a personnel policy on a human scale.
The new building is situated on the campus at the level of the former nursing school and is a first step in the further development of the campus as a community hospital.
The existing nursing school will be demolished to make way for a new building with six floors (ground floor and five floors), a technical room on level six and at basement level an underground parking with logistical functions.
A connection will be realized with the existing hospital on level 5 (connection to the existing operating theatre) and at basement level for the logistics functions.
Each level has an area of approx. 600 m² (40m x 15m), the technical room approx. 400 m², basement level approx. 1500 – 2000 m².
Program (guiding):
Level 6: technical room
Level 5: 4 OR rooms, recovery
Level 4: small surgery rooms, surgical day hospital
Level 3: intervention rooms ophthalmology
Level 2: ingrepenzalen MKA
Level 1: IVF center
Level 0: reception, first-line functions
Level -1: parking, logistics functions
Important aspects of the design are also the opening up of the car park and the logistical functions in the H. Consciencestraat and the creation of a Healing Environment – green zone as a buffer between the surrounding buildings and the planned new building.
After the selection round, a site visit is planned.
