The purpose of the Electricity Safety Authority's procurement is to ensure quality deliveries of services, products, product competence, product-related services and consultancy expertise to meet the business's high demands and expectations on operations and development. Moving from a traditional operational procurement to an IT partner procurement, the Swedish ESA hopes to strengthen the relationship with the supplier and work towards common goals for digitization, operations and IT development.

The procurement permits both "traditional" server operation produced by the supplier (or subcontractor) and third-party services (eg cloud services) produced by a third party provider; such as applications, computer capabilities, client management services, data storage, networking and backup.
