Marine research services. Marine research services. Salvage and Marine Operations are responsible for the management of MOD owned potentially polluting or dangerous shipwrecks.

During WWII many ships sank with a considerable weapons load onboard. A study is required to look at the generic hazard posed by differing classes of sunken warships and submarines when loaded with their standard issue of munitions.

This study involves researching the standard inventory of weapons carried by classes of ship, then analysing each type of munition to understand what changes may have occurred to them since the ship's loss and what hazard they may pose today.
