The city of Heide is building a new school center. It will house the Gymnasium Heide-Ost and the Gemeinschaftsschule Heide-Ost with a total of up to 1,500 students. It is designed as a new building on the site of the previous outdoor sports areas. After completion, the relocation of the schools, the demolition of the existing building and the construction of new outdoor sports areas are planned. The new building is a contiguous, free-standing, three-storey structure in mostly prefabricated reinforced concrete. It has no basement, is flat on a foundation slab and finished with a flat roof. The outer skin of the building is also made of prefabricated reinforced concrete elements. The entire interior design does not include any suspended ceilings. All building services installations are planned in visible-surface-mounted assembly.
