Deutsche Klimarechenzentrum GmbH (hereinafter: DKRZ) operates as a national service facility a data center for the implementation of climate simulations.
The customer is currently procuring a new, energy-efficient HLRE4 high-performance computer, which is to replace the old HLRE3 at its location at the customer's headquarters during operation.
This requires an energy-efficient adaptation of the existing computer rooms and the infrastructure in the client's existing data center. In particular, the conversion and expansion of the power supply, UPS, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, the increase in reliability through redundancy and measures to increase energy efficiency are provided.
Additional functional areas (e.g. IT warehouse) should also be created and details of the structural and technical infrastructure should be upgraded / refurbished (e.g. intrusion detection system, access control system, external lightning protection, lighting system, visitor area).
In this tender, construction work and associated execution planning services (work and assembly planning) are essentially advertised. The construction project is an extension of the TGA of a data center.
The tender contains an IT usable area of approx. 200 m
The general contractor services to be provided include, in particular, structural measures (interior fittings, steel construction) and the technical building equipment (TGA).
In particular, the following measures are planned:
Electrical engineering
- Power supply for HPC system with up to 4 MW connected load including UPS;
- Upgrading and expanding the measurement and monitoring technology including counting and residual current monitoring;
- Renewal or repair of the UPS systems for the infrastructure components;
- Measures to increase the redundancy of the data center infrastructure;
- Exchange of a busbar system for a central sub-distributor with outlets to the IT racks;
- upgrading external lightning protection;
- Redesign of the lighting in the computer rooms;
- data cabling.
refrigeration technology
- Adaptation and supplementation of the refrigeration technology for cooling the high-performance computers with hot and cold water;
- energy saving measures;
- Increase in cooling capacity at very high outside temperatures greater than 35
- Repair or renewal of dry heat exchangers.
MCR technology
- modernization and adaptation of the building management system;
Fire protection
- Implementation of the necessary fire protection measures and review of the fire protection concept.
EMA
- Modernization of the burglar alarm system while maintaining the VdS class C SG 4 attestation
Access control system
- Extension and modernization of the existing system including conversion to a secure medium;
Oxygen reduction
- Optimization of plant operation with regard to fire protection and energy efficiency;
- Time control of the oxygen content;
- emergency ventilation.
Minor finishing work
- renewal of the floor coating;
- formation of a storage room;
- Organization of the visitor area;
- Adaptation / renewal of the raised floor in parts of the computer rooms;
- painting;
- Fall protection for work on the roof.
The relevant planning services up to and including draft planning are currently being carried out. On this basis, the contractor should carry out the execution planning (work and assembly planning) for these expansion and conversion measures and then carry out the construction work during uninterrupted data center full operation in the existing building.
BIM aspects will play a very important role in this. It is envisaged that the plant construction company will provide its planning services in the BIM model.
The client points out that the conversion measures for the new high-performance computer HRLE-4 are essentially a construction measure that affects the third floor and the technical areas of the customer's existing building.
Option: The customer reserves the right - after acceptance of the construction work - to commission the contractor with the maintenance of the newly designed and installed TGA systems. The contractor does not have a legal right to request the optional services.
At the moment, planning services, including draft planning and functional specifications, are provided by a planning office that is bound by the client and specializes in plant construction.
The most important planning results are made available upon request for an offer. On this basis, bidders can then offer the services to be performed.
