A report shall be delivered for concept selection for energy facilities in local communities in sparsely built areas. The facility shall use 100 % renewable energy sources. Heat pumps are to be used for heating, and electricity shall be produced from renewable and fluctuating sources. The facility shall be put together in a system that contains smart grid functions and energy storage.

The assignments consists of a general part and a specific part.

A. General part: A study that describes alternative concept solutions, and which gives the basis for assessing profitability and feasibility for these types of projects in local communities in sparsely populated areas.

B. Demonstration project: A justified concept choice (technical solution) for such an energy facility in Leirvik in Eystur kommune on the Faroe Iselands.
