The aim of the service is to ensure that the overarching principle of Non-Urgent Health Care Transport Service is followed and achieved; Patients who are eligible for dialysis transport will receive safe, timely and comfortable transport to their destination, without detriment to their medical condition. This service covers patients with all mobilities, therefore their requirements will vary. The provider will accommodate all their needs and provide the most appropriate vehicle and workforce to undertake the journey irrespective of the patient's mobility.
The contract is commissioned by NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group for patients registered with a South Yorkshire GP. The specification provides a service for all patients travelling to all South Yorkshire Renal Dialysis Units or private provider sites for NHS funded treatment. Due to the geographical position of the CCGs, patients may reside outside the South Yorkshire metropolitan area but require transport to sites within South Yorkshire. These are included in the contract and are not considered out of area providing the patient is registered with a South Yorkshire CCG GP.

Due to the geographical position of the CCG, patients may reside outside the Bassetlaw local authority area but require transport to sites within North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire, North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. These are included in the contract and are not considered out of area providing the patient is registered with a Bassetlaw CCG GP.
