The Monitoring HelpDesk service was first launched in 2016 to undertake the processing of monitoring data and facilitate its analysis, mainly by improving comparability. The service supports the work of desk officers in Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy by providing visualisations and quality checks on monitoring data. This tool helps to identify reporting mistakes, benchmark programme and Member State performance, and identify thematic investment, thereby enabling desk officers in DG Regional and Urban Policy to make informed decisions on the investment strategy, quality of the data and performance of the programmes. In 2022, the scorecards were extended to cover 2021-2027 programmes under negotiation, in order to provide assistance to DG Regional and Urban Policy in the assessment of investment strategies and indicator systems.
