The LRN, together with the A4, A44, N446 and the RijnlandRoute, forms the Leiden Ring. The ring structure directs through traffic around the city center of Leiden and the village center of Leiderdorp. In order for the Leiden Ring to function properly, a package of infrastructural measures was proposed as part of the LAB071 Solution to improve the flow on the north side of the ring road.
The project area of the LRN runs geographically from the Plesmanlaan in Leiden from the connection to the N206 (adjacent to the already realized Access Bio Science Park) to the ro-tonde N446 on the Oude Spoorbaan in Leiderdorp. The LRN project is divided into 5 sections of which the Schiphol East section is the second part:
-- Route section Schipholweg-Oost: from the north side of the Stationspleintunnel to the intersection with the Willem de Zwijgerlaan/Oegstgeesterweg/ (including Dellaertweg).
The scope of the project includes the following components:
• Reconstruction of schipholweg intersection with Dellaertweg;
• VRI intersection Schipholweg with exit fire station;
• New green structure Schipholweg;
