The Mandelbachtal-Ormesheim landfill is in the decommissioning phase. A planning working group has developed the current execution planning for the final profiling of the final surface sealing, including surface drainage (RRBs). In order to reduce leachate rush quickly and steadily, the structural measures for the final profiling of the final surface sealing of the landfill must be implemented in two stages. Depending on the progress of backfilling existing residual volumes in the planned 2nd construction phase, the required planning and monitoring services for this BA may overlap with the services of the 1st BA.
In the 1st construction phase (1st BA), the southern, final part of the landfill site is first provided with a surface seal. The operating route and intermediate berms are manufactured up to the construction stage boundary. The robberbed women are already being used here to drain the surface water generated in the 1st BA into the embankments. The access to the plateau area is completed including the turnaround hammer. See plan “1.5 — Intermediate state map after completion of the 1st construction phase”.
The gas wells G, H and I are already being manufactured and connected to the newly installed collection line.
In the 1st BA, the waste bin is still pre-profiled exclusively with landfill substitutes available on site. Surplused embankments must be reduced and the masses reinstalled in areas with a mass deficit. It may be necessary to upgrade the excavation masses.
In the transition area in the 2nd BA, an embankment is created to the lower, not yet final filled northern landfill body. The surface sealing is brought here to the embankment crown in a transition area, as shown in Plan “5.5 Detail Construction Section Boundary”.
In the 2nd construction phase, the northern landfill area is covered with a surface seal. For the final profiling of the waste bin, foreign materials may be supplied to compensate for the mass difference.
The 2nd construction phase is expected to be realised from 2025 after the residual volumes have been backfilled.
