Renewal of the track section from Saabrücker Straße to Thierbacher Straße incl. Level crossing system
1) Initial situation:
The sections of the route from Saarbrücker Straße to Gelsenkirchener Allee (including the arches Hagenwerder Straße and Gaglower Straße) were last renovated from 1991 to 1993 for the last time. The route to Sachsendorf has one of the highest tram sequences in the entire network and is therefore the busiest. So far, the journey has taken place every 7.5 minutes.
The level crossing system for road traffic in the area of Gaglower Straße dates from the early 1990s and must also be replaced. In the Gleistrasse there are track slabs that are in poor condition and can lead to restrictions in the medium term in the intersection with private transport (Thiemstraße, Gaglower Straße) and in the crossing area. Over the past few years, the city of Cottbus has been increasingly pointing to the deficient fastening of the track cover slabs and repaired by Cottbus traffic.
During site visits and the annual track inspections, the heavily contaminated ballast was particularly noticeable. This no longer has the required grain size of 32/56, but consists largely of undersize. In addition, the gravel in the arches is very dirty, which is also visible in the unwanted vegetation. The track is therefore almost fixed and the ballast no longer acts as an elastic substructure for the sleepers. The built-in wooden sleepers show a high degree of wear and are dependent on many places. The existing wooden sleepers are to be replaced by contemporary concrete sleepers in a new building. The rail heads are also badly worn and are partially under the guardrail. Due to the construction at that time with grooved rails, the rails could not be turned. This should be improved by a new building with Vignol rails and thus extend the life of the rails. The poor track position means that precisely in these sections where the tram runs on an independent railroad body, the technically and operationally possible speeds can no longer be driven, otherwise the vehicles will rock and there is a risk of derailment. The overhead line masts and high-chain overhead line installed in the track section also date from 1991. In addition to the fundamental route improvement, the expansion would also result in positive environmental aspects such as a reduction in noise and vibration emissions.
2) Description of the construction project:
An overview map is attached (see Fig. 1 of the specification) showing the start and end of construction. No points have to be renewed in the entire construction project.
A total investment of around EUR 3.5 million is planned for the construction project. Track construction, catenary, electrical engineering and a level crossing system must be planned. The construction is to take place in 2 phases.
A replacement of at least 26 catenary masts including catenary is also planned. The adjacent stops are not planned for expansion.
The concrete poles E76, E76A, E75, E75A, E74, E74A, E73A, E72, E72A, E71A, E66, E65, E64, E64A, E63, E62, E61, E62A, E60, E59, E58, E57, E56 are made of steel poles to be renewed with the paint color RAL 703. The masts E70, E69, E68 are already steel masts, these must be repaired and also painted in the color RAL 703.
In the 1st BA, the overhead line up to mast E67 must be replaced. The renewal of the catenary extends beyond the end of construction of the 1st BA, since the bracing on the catenary mast E67 takes place only south of the end of the track. An overview of the catenary masts with position can be found in Appendix 3.1.
The track layout is to be planned based on the existing track route. The situation remains the same. The type of superstructure from the start of construction, including crossing the street with Gaglower Straße and the pedestrian crossing, is to be carried out in a solid carriageway with mastic asphalt. Details of cross-sections are created by the engineering office in the further planning process.
