The requirements are for the provision of Criminal Justice Healthcare Services to Northamptonshire Police, specifically this covers health care provision in custody suites. In order to cater for the transfer of services, the Contract will be awarded for the period of two years with the option to extend for a further one year renewable annually.
Northamptonshire Police is working in partnership with NHS Commissioners as part of the custody healthcare transition project. It is anticipated that it will become a legal requirement in April 2015 for the NHS to take over the responsibility for the contractual commissioning of health provision within police custody suites. However, the exact date is not known at this stage. There may be a requirement for inclusion of Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC) in the future.
