FE 15.0705/2022/ERB - Identification and evaluation of measures to increase the energy efficiency of road tunnels during planning and operation
The importance of energy security is becoming a new priority. In connection with the high energy demand for safe road tunnel operation, possibilities for increasing the energy efficiency of tunnel systems and possibilities for decarbonization must be explored in the context of the energy transition in the sense of sustainable and energy-saving tunnel operation. In order to prove the energy efficiency in the planning of the operational tunnel equipment as well as in the operation of the tunnel, methodological approaches for the energy-efficient design of tunnel elements are required, taking into account structural boundary conditions and environmental conditions. In addition to the evaluation of the efficiency of the tunnel technology through consumption, further approaches to savings, e.g. the reduction of losses or the use of forms of energy with a higher degree of efficiency, must be investigated. In addition, it is to be shown how an agile or intelligent energy management system should be designed with the inclusion of real-time information for targeted consumption control and optimization. The summary of the results in the form of a planning aid is intended to give greater consideration to the aspect of sustainability in terms of increasing the efficiency of technical equipment in planning and operational practice.
