Description of the assignment:

In The Public Health Report 2015 (Report No.19 (2014–2015) The Public Health Report. Mastering and Possibilities) the government emphasises (amongst other things) physical activity in nursery schools and schools.

The work will occur in phases and will be carried out in collaboration with The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, The Norwegian Directorate of Health and the National Centre for food, health and physical activity. The assignment will entail the following:

1) Assist in obtaining a knowledge overview (this work has started and shall be completed by February 2016).

2) Propose models for physical activity and/or physical education based on the knowledge overview, which can be trialled in Norwegian schools at the lower secondary level (February 2016).

3) Propose different evaluating designs, including cost estimates, which can be used to give the best possible knowledge about what shall be trialled (February 2016).

4) Assist in the collaboration with The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, The Norwegian Directorate of Health and the National centre for food, health and physical activity for testing in approximately 30 lower secondary schools (planning and selection of schools will occur in Autumn 2016, start up at school start in Autumn 2016, 2 years duration for the testing).

5) Evaluate the testing (refer to point 3) with sub-report in June 2017 and final report in December 2018.

Current cost-frame for the entire work is 15 000 000 NOK . The following costs shall be covered: fees for the development of knowledge basis, preparation of proposal for testing and evaluating, costs in testing schools (extra hourly resources) and the evaluation of the testing. The final cost-frame for the evaluation will be set when the research design is selected (refer to point 3). It is desirable that the research environments collaborate on the project.
