The target of the procurement is the design services concerning the project and implementation planning of the Kanku school in the city of Varkaus. The planning of the invitation to tender is carried out as an overall plan. Including the following design sections. Main, architectural, structural, GEO-technical, HVAC, electrical, building automation, fire engineering and acoustics design. Project planning is included in the overall planning.

Building Automation Design (RAU) must be carried out in accordance with the instructions of the City of Varkaus's regional control room. Tenders are invited and the decision on the selection of the designer is made as an overall design, including project planning. The bidder must be an architectural firm, acting in the role of the main designer of the project, as required by law. The formation of a grouping / consortium is allowed. The representative (= bidder) must be an architectural firm.

An appropriation of EUR 50,000 has been reserved in the City of Varkaus budget for 2023 for the project planning. An appropriation reserve for building design is proposed in the 2024 budget. The designer shall be the tenderer who has submitted the most economically advantageous overall design offer, based on the lowest price.

Kanku's school will be sized as a 2-series primary school with approximately 240 pupils. The new primary school for grades 1-6, planned for Kankun ridge, will replace the Luttila and Puurtila school buildings. The renovation of old schools is not seen as justified due to the inoperability and high costs of the premises. In accordance with the decisions of the Technical Board of the City of Varkaus (25.4.2023 §69) and the City Board (2.5.2023 § 109), the wooden school will be designed and built with a frame structure made of CLT or LVL material or a combination of both.
