Description:
Continuation, further development and implementation of the communication initiative "Climate-Human-Health" on the topic of "Climate Change and Health"

The health problems people suffer from climate change will continue to intensify with each passing year and decade as climate change progresses. However, the diseases will pose a challenge for the entire health care system not only for those affected and their relatives, but also due to their increasing frequency, secondary diseases and the significantly increased cost of care. In particular, heat-related illnesses and complaints, in addition to the increase in direct medical costs, will lead to considerable indirect, economically relevant costs, including loss of work and productivity.

It is therefore of central importance to sensitize the population to the health risks of climate change - especially heat - with quality-tested, easy-to-understand information and to support them in coping well with the changed climatic conditions. This applies above all to vulnerable groups. At the same time, it is important to motivate multipliers in living environments such as municipalities, companies and schools to adapt to the consequences of climate change with practical recommendations for action and to support them in doing so.

In 2021, the BZgA, together with the BMG, launched a communication initiative on the topic of "climate change and health". The focus is on the health effects of heat - on the one hand because of the frequency and on the other hand because of the preventive potential of heat-related diseases.

Strategic-consulting, conceptual, creative-graphic and editorial services are to be provided by the contractor. This includes, above all, the active support, updating and professional development of the www.klima-mensch-gesundheit.de information portal.
