The project comprises the upgrading of the safety equipment in the Tromsøysund tunnel. The tunnel is a two course tunnel, with 15 cross cuts that link the courses together. The cross cuts are also escape routes between the tunnel courses. The tunnel has three pumping stations, where the one at the bottom of the tunnel by distribution K2F is connected to the main pumping station and reserve reservoir for water. The tunnel is under-ground and each of the courses has a length of approx. 3 500 meters.
The upgrading includes new technical buildings, establishing of 7 000 meters with conduits in the ground, i.e. infrastructure for electricity, management and monitoring system. Establishing of new distributions, management and monitoring systems, emergency booths/cupboards, ventilation, signs, lighting, pump systems, open air barriers as well as new wearing course throughout the entire tunnel. All of the existing cabling in the tunnel is to be disassembled and redeveloped. In addition, AID (automatic incident detection / camera monitoring with event detection) shall be established.
Statens vegvesen [The Norwegian Public Roads Administration] will inform the tenderer whether the work is of a nature that involves requirements of the installer
The existing facility shall be in operation right through until the new facility is commissioned and put into operation. 'Put into operation' also includes monitoring to the Vegtrafikksentralen [the Road Traffic Centre]. There will be traffic in the one tunnel course during the entire contract. This means that all of the monitoring of the tunnel shall function the entire time. The same is valid for automatic closure of the tunnel.
