To ensure sufficient capacity to meet demand for patients requiring ophthalmology care in North and North East Lincolnshire, 2 AQP frameworks will be commissioned by North and North East Lincolnshire CCGs, providing a range of ophthalmology services and offering patient choice.
The AQP “framework” approach will appoint multiple organisations capable of delivering the specified service to the localities and offer a choice for referring GP’s and Optometrists. The provider/s will need to offer and deliver a high quality ophthalmology service which offers the best clinical treatment in line with all relevant guidelines and standards, meets all 18 week targets and follow up appointments timescales, offering a one stop shop where clinically appropriate.
The service offer comprises;
Option A: Cataract assessment and treatment only
Option B: A range of ophthalmology services, as described within the service specification
Each CCG is offering an initial contract of three years, commencing from 1.7.2019 with the possibility of extending the term beyond the initial contracted duration by up to an additional 2 years. This will be based on annual review and with mutual agreement from the provider and each CCG.
