The study should provide missing data on currently existing control and enforcement mechanisms to ensure the quality of goods certified with an IP right as originating from a specific geographical area, and their effectiveness, costs and benefits for producers and public authorities. The study should enable to determine what options there are for such a mechanism as part of a possible future pan-European system of IP protection for authentically-linked products other than agricultural.
