Sandefjord Municipality has entered into a contract with the non-profit limited company Guttas Campus AS for the procurement of activity and learning camps for boys in the 9th and 10th years, with subsequent regular mentor follow-up The main aim is to support the boys' subject and social development, and to strengthen their prerequisites for mastering life and competing sixth form college.
Guttas Campus is a two week intensive learning camp with follow-up at a mentor centre for one year after the camp. The target group is boys that experience school as challenging, and who would like to strengthen themselves in subjects and socially before starting sixth form college. These are recruited in cooperation with schools and school authorities. Enthusiastic teachers and supervisors participate in the camp, and they meet the boys with predictability, clear boundaries, and a lot of welfare. The boys must feel challenged, but also cheered on the entire time on their way to their important goals.
Goals for each boy:
- Increase motivation for learning
- Develop good work habits
- Achieve subject, personal, and social growth
- Experience contentment and mastering
The camp is characterised by active learning work, clear expectations, and mutual agreements. All the learning activities have a clear structure and clear goals, and are adapted to each boy.
