The Ministry of Trade and Industry (NHD) manages an inter-departmental control group for the project obtaining knowledge - value creation in the north.
The aim of "Knowledge creation - value creation in the north" is to obtain knowledge on the effects and spin-off effects of an increased commitment to economic value creation in businesses such as tourism and fishing related entities in Nordland, Troms and Finnmark. We would like to assess value creation in a broad perspective where consideration is given to both economic, social and environmental effects and spin-off effects. The starting point for the geographical limits is the updated management plan for the Barents Sea - Lofoten, and the knowledge that is obtained can be used as a basis for the next updating of the management plan.
The obtaining of knowledge is to cover a broad spectrum of businesses and problems and shall highligh the potential for value creation in the businesses separately and together. The sectors in which sector analyses shall be carried out are:
— fishing, sea farming and new marine businesses,
— tourism,
— renewable energy,
— the mineral industry,
— other industry and business activity.
This review is for a sector analysis of the renewable energy business that shall be a part of the work with future pictures and it shall also give input data for use in the economic model.
The aim of the sector analyses is to map relevant businesses/sectors and assess the potential for value creation in the middle term (2030) and long term (2050 and 2100). Through the reviews background material shall be worked out with the status for the actual businesses and a description of their future prospects, including important business specific trends.
