The NIHR aims to enhance national health and economic growth through collaborative research funding and implementation in health and social care, including support for global health initiatives.
Data Strategy Development & Implementation. The NIHR is funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. Working in partnership with the NHS, universities, local government, other research funders, and patients and the public - we fund, enable and deliver world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. We are also a major funder of applied health research in low- and middle-income countries. NIHR delivers against its mission through six core workstreams: ● Funding high quality, timely research that benefits the NHS, public health and social care ● Investing in world-class expertise, facilities and a skilled delivery workforce to translate discoveries into improved treatments and services ● Partnering with patients, service users, carers and communities to improve the relevance, quality and impact of our research ● Attracting, training and supporting the best researchers to tackle complex health and social care challenges ● Collaborating with other public funders, charities and industry to shape a cohesive and globally competitive research system ● Funding applied global health research and training to meet the needs of the poorest people in low- and middle-income countries.
