Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust seeks a construction management partner to assist with rectification works at Darent Valley Hospital, addressing over 40,000 compliance issues identified in recent surveys.
Estates Rectification Works. Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust has jointly commissioned with its PFI provider a series of surveys covering the compliance of Darent Valley Hospital with its PFI contract. These have highlighted in excess of 40,000 issues requiring rectification. The breadth of issues found require large scale remediation of the hospital and include cladding, ventilation, lighting, acoustics as well as fabric issues. In particular the quantum of fire safety issues found has also led to the fire and rescue authority issuing an enforcement notice on the PFI provider requiring remediation of faults by 2027.
The Trust is considering various options available to it, including: 1. Agreeing a rectification works programme with the PFI Provider; or 2. Stepping in to take over the rectification works itself in the event that the PFI provider is not making sufficient progress. The decision making around the route to having a compliant Hospital will evolve over the coming months, but in the meantime the Trust is seeking a construction management. partner to work with it and its existing advisors to help it understand the options better and to assist it over the duration of the rectification works.
