The Western Social Investment Fund (SIF) Zone Steering Group which comprises of the Council areas of Strabane, Omagh, Limavady, Fermanagh and the rural wards of Derry City Council Identified the Work Ready West Project (WRW) as one of its Strategic priorities.

The WRW aims to supplement existing unemployment initiatives by providing a wage-based employment and training opportunities for 160 unemployed individuals within the Western Zone over the Project lifespan. The WRW will target participants aged 24+ who are long-term unemployed.

The project will target and select participants from across the Western Zone, with participants being signposted to the Project from local job centres, as well as community and voluntary organisations within the Zone. However, preference will be given to long-term unemployed living within the top 20 % Super Output Areas (SOA's).
