London Underground’s Sub-Surface Railway Upgrade Project involves the introduction of new rolling stock and signalling systems on the Metropolitan and District sub-surface lines. As well as providing a greatly improved passenger environment that includes air conditioning, the new trains, coupled with the introduction of new signalling, will permit faster station to station run times and higher train service frequencies. The associated SSR Power Upgrade Project involves the replacement and upgrading of significant parts of the high voltage and traction power supply infrastructure that supports the operation of the line.

This enquiry specifically covers Package 7B of the Power Upgrade programme. It is intended to competitively tender a Detailed Design & Build contract under an NEC 3 ECC Option A (with amended London Underground Ltd terms) contract to deliver this works.

The works include the detailed design, procurement, supply, construction necessary to facilitate the installation and commissioning of approximately six kilometres of 2 Nr. 132kV underground cable circuits, system integration, commissioning and handover of associated equipment and structures starting at Hendon Grid and terminating at London Underground’s Neasden Depot.
