Description:
Individual business advice for sustainable agriculture in the fields of grassland, integrated pest management, climate / energy, organic farming and animal health

Implementation and implementation of a modular individual farm advisory system "Sustainable Agriculture" for farms in the areas of grassland, integrated pest management,

Climate / energy, animal health and organic farming in accordance with Art. 15 of Regulation (EU) No. 1305/2013 of December 17, 2013 (EAFRD).

This means that in the event of a later assignment, the contractor will be the beneficiary and thus the beneficiary of EU funding according to Art. 15 of the aforementioned regulation will be.

The selected advisory organizations can invoice a portion of their advisory fee directly to the state of Schleswig-Holstein - depending on the advisory module.

A minimum utilization is not granted. The economic risk lies with the selected consulting organizations. The selected advisory organizations must independently seek advisory contracts from agricultural businesses in Schleswig-Holstein.

Grassland

Advice on sustainable grassland management should be modular. The advisory modules are structured in such a way that grassland farmers can receive individual advice. 2 modules are offered. On the one hand, there is general basic advice with the aim of familiarizing farmers with the issues of grassland management. On the other hand, the special module is primarily about addressing specific location issues, e.g. B. the management of locations close to the groundwater, as well as special alternative uses, e.g. B. To deal with the expansion of grazing and consideration of nature conservation issues.

Integrated crop protection in arable farming

The aim of the measure described here is to carry out individual on-site advice on the implementation of integrated pest management on arable farms in Schleswig-Holstein in order to optimize pest management in terms of integrated pest management and to improve knowledge of harmful organisms and decision-making aids for their regulation and to further restrict the use of pesticides on a voluntary basis.

The farms are to be given an incentive to improve integrated pest management practices and to use potential for reduction through the advisory services tailored to the operational conditions.

Integrated plant protection nurseries

The aim of the measure described here is to carry out individual on-site advice on the implementation of integrated pest management in agricultural tree nurseries (ornamental wood nurseries and forest nurseries) in accordance with Art. 15 EAFRD VO in Schleswig-Holstein in order to optimize pest management in terms of integrated pest management as well as improving knowledge of harmful organisms and decision-making aids for their regulation and further restricting the use of pesticides on a voluntary basis.

The farms should be given an incentive to improve the integrated plant protection practice and to use reduction potentials by offering advice tailored to the farm conditions.

Climate and energy advice

The climate and energy advice is carried out in a modular manner, following the basic principle of enabling farms to receive advice on an individual basis. The individual company advisory services are divided into general basic advice to improve the energy efficiency and energetic performance of the company, whereby the use of existing IT programs for the company climate check also counts, as well as 2 special modules for advising specialized companies. For companies with a focus on plant production and horticulture, climate and energy advice is offered with the aim of reducing the use of fossil fuels and the use of resources in plant cultivation and horticulture, as well as advice on reducing the release of climate-relevant greenhouse gases. For farms with animal husbandry, advice should focus on reducing the release of climate-relevant greenhouse gases and low-emission farm manure storage and application.

Organic farming

The nutrient pollution of groundwater and surface waters in Schleswig-Holstein is still too high despite the measures taken so far. The diffuse nutrient inputs from agriculture are a major cause of the existing water pollution and a major reason for not complying with the goals and requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive.

Agricultural production in accordance with the guidelines of the EU Organic Regulation (VO (EU) 834/2007) has been shown to lead to low nitrogen balance balances due to the fact that the animal stock is tied to the agricultural area and the absence of mineral nitrogen fertilizers, with which the goals of the Water Framework Directive can be achieved are.

In addition, the extensive renunciation of chemical-synthetic pesticides relieves the environmental media of water, soil and air, wild plants and animals and the agricultural products produced from potentially harmful substances. The state of Schleswig-Holstein therefore promotes advice on organic farming within the framework of advice on sustainable agriculture.

Animal health in cattle

A number of studies with a focus on Schleswig-Holstein provide clear indications that animal welfare is impaired to a significant extent on farms with dairy cows. The focus is on symptoms that indicate multifactorial diseases and are heterogeneous. The focus areas are disorders of the general well-being, metabolism, the musculoskeletal system, the immune system, reproduction and udder health.

Infectious influences are more of a secondary consideration as causes. The focus is on general conditions in animal husbandry that are (can) only inadequately compensated for by the animals kept. Such causes are largely related to keeping, feeding, performance, breeding and management (ie with biological, technological and economic aspects of the production process). Such animal health impairments, which mostly occur throughout the herd, are referred to as production diseases. In addition to dairy cows, calves and young cattle are also regularly affected by production diseases.

The occurrence of production diseases is an expression of a situational or prolonged overstrain of the animals in a herd and therefore directly represents an impairment of animal welfare. A systematic situation analysis of existing production diseases and the survey of the operational framework structures are an indispensable basis for improving animal welfare. With a view to mow unspecific performance depression, they also form an indicator for options for improving operational management from an economic point of view.

Following the above risk analysis, a specific strategic concept is to be developed for the respective farms to improve the species and needs-based justice of animal husbandry. The implementation of animal welfare and animal health of particularly priority development goals should be agreed with the farm manager. In addition to a description of the content, this also includes the formulation of an implementation schedule. Follow-up visits are intended to assess the suitability of the agreed measures and their implementation. For the further development of animal husbandry, implementation targets can be updated if necessary. Further development steps can also be formulated.

A particular goal of the first and follow-up visits is to facilitate the participating companies' access to particularly appropriate training and advice offers in a targeted manner based on their structural analysis.

Animal health in pigs

A common problem in pig husbandry is the mutual nibbling of the tails of pigs kept together. The result is serious mow injuries with complete loss of the tail. Affected animals suffer pain and suffering. This so-called caudophagy occurs particularly in the rearing and fattening of pigs and begins in the early stages of rearing.

The tail is widely removed (docked) as a precaution, especially in preparation for rearing and fattening. This measure regularly and effectively prevents pain and suffering in preparation for the later slaughter and then results in an improved rating (fewer wounds and scars on the animal body). However, it is in contradiction to the requirements of national and supranational animal protection law.

The operational advice should enable the pig farmers to minimize the extent of caudophagia and thus also the need for docking in pigs as much as possible.
