In the area of the main street in Bielefeld in the district of Brackwede, the Stadtbahn line 1 between the stops "Brackwede Bahnhof" and "Windelsbleicher Straße" will be barrier-free over a length of approx. 1250m. Three new elevated platforms are planned in the middle location. It follows that the track axes must be shifted outwards. At the same time, the catenary must be adapted. The catenary is adapted to a total of 1750m between the intersection Arthur-Ladebeck-Straße and Windelsbleicher Straße.
The aim in the conversion area is to create barrier-free access to the light rail. Furthermore, the catenary system and the traction power supply will be renewed and brought up to the current state of the art.
