A new regional sewage treatment plant will be established in rock in Nordbykollen in Drammen municipality. The treatment plant will receive and treat wastewater from Drammen, Lier and parts of Asker municipality.

The treatment plant must fulfil current treatment requirements for the removal of phosphorus and organic material as well as the expected requirements for the treatment of nitrogen. The treatment plant must also be dimensioned such that any stricter treatment requirements for the parameters that are currently required are able to be met. Expansion for additional treatment stages will also be facilitated, primarily by assessing the need for space by extracting additional rock caverns.

This contest comprises a preliminary project for a new regional wastewater treatment plant. The preliminary will be based on the concept selection study for a Sewage system for the Drammen region, which was considered by the municipal councils in Drammen, Lier and Asker in early 2023.

The preliminary project will entail:

- A new treatment plant situated in rock in Nordbykollen with a discharge pipeline to the Drammensfjord

- A necessary transport system for transferring sewage in the existing sewage tunnel between Solumstrand and Kobbervikdalen/new treatment plant

- Necessary facilities for sludge treatment and administration above ground

- Digestion/levelling system for the treatment plant

- Intake arrangement for wastewater to the new treatment plant from existing and new supply lines

- Sludge treatment

- All necessary supplementary processes
