Maidstone & Tunbridge Well NHS Trust (the “Trust” is seeking a commercial partner to directly manage private patient services for Oncology patients, primarily at its Maidstone site, but to also include any such activity at Tunbridge Wells Hospital site near Pembury.

This is likely to involve the refurbishment (to the partner's specification and investment funding), operation and management of the dedicated Oncology private patient unit currently located at the Maidstone site together with management of Oncology private patients that may be seen at the Pembury site.

The key aim of the project is to increase market share of private Oncology activity from within the Trust's catchment area but to also enhance the reputation of the service.

The selected partner will be required to demonstrate considerable expertise and experience of operating a private patient unit in a NHS hospital environment and an understanding of operating within the Oncology field of private healthcare.

Following legal opinion, the Trust is voluntarily submitting itself to following the general structure of the restricted procedure and is only bound by the application of the EU procurement regulations to the extent that they are applicable to the procurement.

Any references to the EC Directive 2004/18/EC or the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 (as amended) in the contract notice or any other tender documents should be read with this in mind.
