The Search subproject is part of the overall upgrade of the public libraries' new website solution DDB CMS NEXT. The Search subproject is an establishment of the search interface, allowing the user to conduct verified and explicative searches in the library's material inventory. The search interface offers a range of tools for filtering, sorting and displaying materials, as well as the ability to reserve physical materials or view, listen, or read online materials.
The search interface is the borrower's primary entrance to search the library's material inventory. The search interface offers a variety of utility tools for the user to filter, sort, and display materials, as well as the ability to reserve physical materials and find online materials.
The functional requirements for the search interface largely take their cue from the existing CMS of libraries. These are the same basic actions and goals that the CMS needs to support. The greatest changes in the function areas, seen in relation to the current CMS, are the presentation of the materials, which are presented as one unified work across material types and manifestations. It's parallel reservation on fiction and increased focus on making the user aware that materials that are at home in a physical library can be localized and picked up directly on the shelf.
