VE 50 Masonry and reinforced concrete work Lot 2
Wernigerode Castle is one of the most important cultural monuments in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. In the early Middle Ages, the castle was expanded in the course of modern times into a ring-shaped complex. In the middle/end of the 19th century, a comprehensive reconstruction took place in the historicist style typical of the time, which today characterizes the formative shape of the monument.
Wernigerode Castle is located in the immediate vicinity of the village of Wernigerode on the Schlossberg. It is visible from far away in the landscape. The entire facility was laid out on sight. Due to the elevated position and the fortified character of the entire complex, the castle can only be reached to a limited extent via only two paths.
As part of the urgently needed renovation of the retaining walls as well as individual building parts of the castle complex, it is intended to expand the development of the listed castle complex in a more generation-friendly way. These include the installation of elevators, the structural addition of ramps, railings and a lift as well as the renovation of entire parts of the building.
