The prequalification involves preparation of detailed plan and construction schedule for workshop and depot for the City Railroad (Bybanen) in Bergen.
In connection with Bybanen's first construction stage, a workshop/depot was built at Kronstad. The workshop/depot was originally planned to be used for the first construction stage only, and is planned as a provisional workshop.
The workshop at Kronstad shall gradually have limited facilities for maintaining and operating seventeen 32 metres long Variobahn and other rolling stock. At present Kronstad is also base for the vehicle maintenance organisation (Stadler Pankow GmbH), the operator of passenger services (Fjord1 Partner) and the vehicle and infrastructure company (Bybanen AS).
It is therefore necessary to establish a permanent workshop/depot in connection with Bybanen's third construction stage: Lagunen - Bergen Airport Flesland.
The new workshop shall include facilities for the following:
— Control, maintenance and repairs of the Bybanen's Variobahn and other rolling stock (e.g. grinding coach 901 and overhead line vehicle 903),
— Facilities for extension of todays Variobahn (32 metres with 5 modules) to 42 metres with 7 modules,
— Indoor parking for all 42 metres vehicles and other rolling stock,
— Offices/facilities for all involved companies.
1. Infrastructure maintenance and vehicle management (Bybanen AS).
2. Operator for passenger services including the Operation Central, OCC (at present Fjord1 Partner).
3. Vehicle maintenance organisation (Stadler Pankow GmbH).
Common facilities for reception, deliveries, meetings, canteen and social activities.
Storage space for all involved companies.
It is important that the tenderer considers successive construction of workshop/depot in line with the construction/expansion of the City Railroad’s network. It is a goal that the workshop at Kokstad shall be the main workshop/base for the complete Bybane system (construction stages 4, 5, 6 etc.).
