We would like to build a scalable and modular block storage infrastructure based on Software Defined Storage (SDS) that would be able to support a large heterogeneous variety of loads. This infrastructure must at least support the current amount of data and performance, but also be able to scale to fit the future needs, in terms of storage and performances.
The goal is to migrate from the current monolithic solution to a SDS solution. The main point is to be able to decrease the TCO and also decrease the administration effort (i.e.: automating frequent tasks). Having features like compression or deduplication can also be interesting because it allows to decrease TCO as well. We want the possibility to make evolve the solution in the modular way and also the most seamlessly possible for clients.
