NGU wants to upgrade its X-ray system for inspection of drillcore material with advanced equipment which can replace the current solution. The current facility is divided into two rooms: a radiation-protected X-ray room and a control room. The operator controls and manages the X-ray equipment from the control room, with visual monitoring of the X-ray system through a protective lead-glass window.
The upgrade consists of replacing the existing system with a new and advanced X-ray imaging solution for drillcores, including complete modification of the existing room to facilitate linear and rotational 2D-imaging.
The new system should meet the following specifications:
a. Drillcore Dimensions: Length - up to 160 cm; diameter - up to 15 cm.
b. Drillcore Motion: Fully automated motion. Linear precision: 0.1 mm. Angular precision: 0.1 degrees
c. X-ray Source & Detection: Variable intensity (up to 130 keV) microfocal source, integrated image intensifier & 12 MB area camera.
d. Imaging Time: Minimum scan time: 1 min./150 cm. Average scan time for standard resolution: 5 min./150 cm.
e. Images Output: Resolution: 100-150 microns. 16-bit greyscale TIFF images, AVI movie files
f. Dimensions: L x W x H (cm): maximum 500 x 60 x 200
g. Normal drillcore length : 0 - 2 m.
