Description:
Interconnection T-pieces including frames

This tender includes the manufacture, vacuum testing and delivery of 49 UHV chambers (so-called Dipole Interconnection T-pieces (DIT)) and 48 pump racks, which will be used in the cryogenic beam vacuum system of the future heavy ion synchrotron SIS100 at FAIR (Darmstadt) will. The advertised vacuum chambers form the beam guidance connection between 2 neighboring vacuum chambers of the superconducting dipole modules in the SIS100.

Residual gas pressures in the lower UHV / upper XHV are generated in the approximately 50cm long tubes at normal operating temperatures between 5 ... 15K (-268 degrees C ... -258 degrees C). The DITs are round vacuum tubes with DN160CF flanges and a vertically attached DN100CF outlet pipe. In order to be able to compensate for the contraction / expansion differences of the neighboring dipole chambers during cooling and warming up, the UHV components have to be equipped with 2 hydroformed corrugated bellows. All three flange connections of the DITs are conventional CF flanges.

The racks for the DITs are installed inside the cryostats of the magnets, in which an isolation vacuum is permanently maintained. They are used to fix the cryosorption pump. The frames are mechanically connected to the cryostat components, which normally operate at temperatures below 20K. The frames must be made of 1.4301 stainless steel, which is suitable for low-temperature applications.
