The city development company Hansestadt Herford mbH is currently preparing the largely empty buildings of the former Hammersmith barracks for long-term use by the University of Applied Sciences for Finance North Rhine-Westphalia (FHF NRW). 3 of the buildings (houses 2, 3 and 4) are to be renovated and are intended for long-term use as living space for up to 360 students and lecturers. 3 further buildings (houses 1, 5 and 10) are to be demolished in order to be able to use the resulting open spaces for other purposes at a later date.
